The expansion program of the existing port area in Sta. Clara Batangas is expected to facilitate the speedy development of the area which is crucial to CALABARZON. However, this plan calls for the displacement of more than 1,000 families in Sta. Clara loated along the northeastern section of Batangas Bay. The eviction issue prompted the affected families to organize themselves with the assistance of NGOs and other stakeholders. The dynamics within were discussed here by the author.
