POLITICAL GOVERNANCE IN THE PHILIPPINES: ISSUES AND CHALLENGES

This paper attempts to redefine the meaning of good governance as the Philippines moves towards meaningful integration into a competitive world even as it continously fight poverty. In discussing the requisites of governance, the paper challenges the ortodox view that privatization entails non-intervention of the state in economic affairs. Rather, it presents a critical approach in defining the kind of government intervention that best suits the development challenges facing the country.
