Dr. Eduardo C. Tadem is a professor emeritus at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman-Asian Center and convenor of the Program on Alternative Development of the UP-Center for Integrative and Development Studies.

He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Master of Arts in Asian Studies from UP Diliman. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Southeast Asian Studies from the National University of Singapore.

Dr. Tadem has more than a hundred publications related to the political economy of foreign aid, Southeast Asian regional integration, civil society, peasant society, agrarian reform and rural development, civil society, industry studies, Mindanao regional development, rural unrest and social movements, Philippine‑Japan relations, conflicts over natural resources, international labor migration, foreign investments, special economic zones, and contemporary politics.
