The paper reviewed the experiences with some of the housing approaches that have been adopted by government and the private sector, including nongovernment organizations and urban poor communities. It also assessed the effectiveness of these approaches ahousing solutions. In the analysis it intends to show what elements in the way projects are designed and implemented influence their success and impact on urban poverty.
