Dr. Rafaelita M. Aldaba

Dr. Rafaelita M. Aldaba is currently undersecretary for the competitiveness and innovation group of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). She also served as assistant secretary of the industry development and trade policy group. She fulfills a key role in the formulation and implementation of the new Philippine Industrial Policy and Inclusive Innovation Industrial Strategy (formerly known as the Comprehensive National Industrial Strategy), including the Industry Roadmapping Project, the Manufacturing Resurgence Program, and the Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy Program.
Before her appointment at DTI, Dr. Aldaba was a senior research fellow and acting vice-president of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies. She has extensive research experience, authored various publications on development issues, and conceptualized and managed research projects with various international organizations.
Her research expertise includes trade and industrial policy, regional integration, competition policy, small and medium enterprises, and foreign direct investments.
