One of the strategies to address the problem of urban air pollution in the Philippines is the adoption of environmentally sound technologies or ESTs. Three local products improve existing fuel technologies in the country,namely, Alco-diesel, LANGAS and Sper Bunker Formula L (SBFL). Some technologies are under development. Some are locally patented but have not been widely recognize. Constraints in and barriers to the development of ESTs include conflicting policies, financial obstacles, etc.
