GLOBALIATION, GOVERNANCE AND URBAN POOR COMMUNITIES IN METRO MANILA

This paper explores the underpinnings of the contemporary landscape of Metro Manila where modern skyscrapers and skyways sit astride urban poor slum and squatter communities. Thus, this paper argues that the character of the contemporary Metro Manila ladscape is a product of a fragmented and diffused urban governance rendering it weak and hostage to claims from stakeholders like businessmen, national/local officials and political personalities and from civil society groups.
