THE EFFECTS OF ECONOMIC POLICIES AND REFORMS ON POVERTY: THE PHILIPPINE CASE


The study utilized a framework that is based on the contention that poverty incidence can be affected in three ways: (1) by promoting growth and the quality of growth in the various sectors of the economy, (2) by introducing asset reforms to equalize weath distribution, (3) by providing key social services like health and education to increase the productive potential of marginalized sector. It hopes to analyze policies and to explain why the reduction in poverty has remained modest to date.
