AN ANALYSIS OF GLOBALIZATION AND WAGE INEQUALITY IN THE PHILIPPINES

Based on the Stolper-Samuelson theory that links output prices with wages, the study considers technological change, export price movements and education (as an indicator of skills) as the key factors contributing to wage variability. The paper shows thathe existing globalization process in the Philippines caused an increase in the incomes of all resources owners, but the increase in the returns to unskilled labor had been lower than the other factors.
