This paper examines broadly the growth of foreign direct investments that occurred recently in the 1990s and analyses the reasons and implications of these inflows, particularly in terms of whether these have really benefited the country. The author discsses basic facts, developments and policies that characterize the recent inflow of foreign capital in the Philippines. Some policy implications were also drawn from the study.
