Immobilization is an inexpensive and simple technique for algal preservation. This study reports the immobilization of microalgae from the Philippines. These microalgae were isolated, acclimatized to laboratory conditions at 28-32 degrees celsius under cntinuous illumination of 40 lux, and grown in the BG 11 medium. Each isolate was mass-cultured up to the exponential stage in preparation for immobilization in sodium alginate.
