Despite the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank’s (AIIB) potential to offer opportunities to developing countries by providing funds for infrastructure projects, apprehensions persist due to the suspicions on China’s underlying strategic objectives. In order for the AIIB to fulfil its role, China must demonstrate sincerity and credibility in its intentions to assist other states in infrastructure funding; the Philippines, on the other hand, must ensure a transparent and efficient undertaking of projects funded by loans and investments.
