While the Philippines and China have aligned goals when it comes to infrastructure plans, there remains a need to assess risks and explore opportunities attached to Philippine participation in the Belt and Road Initiative, especially in the face of a volatile and unpredictable geopolitical environment. This article aims to address this need by discussing BRI, its objectives and parameters, perceptions in the international arena, and progress. It also looks into opportunities and considerations for the Philippines.
