Asia-Pacific Regional Network on Gender, Sexuality and Reproductive Health and Fora in the Teaching of Health Social Sciences


The regional conference involved the convening of health social scientists, health scientists, and practitioners, as well as representatives of women's organizations from 11 countries in the Asia and Pacific regions, namely Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. It was the culmination of a 12-month project that involved the preparation of country analysis on gender, sexuality and reproductive health, and case studies on the teaching of health social sciences. The objectives of the conference were: 1)to review the situation of gender, sexuality and reproductive health, as well as the teaching of health social science in 11 Asia and Pacific countries; 2)to identify regional trends and issues on the foregoing areas; and 3)to recommend mechanisms for collaboration and partnership in the Asia and Pacific region for the enhancement of gender, sexuality and reproductive health, as well as the teaching of health social science within and across countries in the region.
