The road traffic congestion in Metro Manila’s major thoroughfares has become a significant problem confronting almost all sectors of the society. The increase in road infrastructure capacity has not been able to provide an answer to the continuing increase in congestion. The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) in recognition of this problem has implemented various Travel Demand Management (TDM) measures to alleviate or minimize congestion in the metropolis thoroughfares. The study investigates the impact of the truck ban on the socioeconomic characteristics of the sector directly involved in the TDM scheme: the truck operators, drivers and truck operation as a whole. While truck operators and drivers are the least compensated among the different types of transport service, existing data cannot establish that the truck ban has influenced the present situation of drivers and operators. The O-D Survey of the study confirmed the interview results, which shows that during nighttime trips, drivers used the routes covered by the ban. The study also shows that most of the operators and drivers have considerably reduced sleeping hours as compared to the normal human being. Likewise, most of the respondents have very little time to spend for their personal and family activities.
