Reassessment and Determination of Star Rating of Schools Using Spot Checks and SR4S Tool During COVID-19 Pandemic

This study uses "Star Rating for Schools" or SR4S, an evidence-based tool developed by the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP). It is generally a systematic tool for assessing and managing the risks children are exposed to during their journeys to and from school. Ensuring that things are within the context of the Decade of Action for Road Safety's target for new roads to be at least 3-star or better, this study assesses seven (7) schools in Zamboanga City, particularly those identified with 3-Star and below ratings during an initial survey in 2019. The assessment process includes site spot checks and road attributes coding and analysis in the context of COVID-19 travel and face-to-face classes set up. Updated Star Ratings are generated, and recommendations are made for schools that require improvement.
