Flor Contemplacion: A Study in Non-Citizenship


The spring of 2000 marks five years since the death by the hanging of Flor Contemplacion on the order of a Singapore court. Flor Contemplacion was a Filipina migrant domestic worker convicted of a double murder that she claims she did not commit. This essay provides a summary and analysis, and reflection on the lessons inspired by Flor Contemplacion's life and resistance, considered from the perspective of migrant women's rights.
