Business Case: Urban Coastal Zone Redevelopment Program


This Business Case forms part of the deliverables for the Formulation of a Master Plan for the Sustainable Urban Infrastructure Development in General Santos City (GSC SUID MP). The SUID MP will serve as a guide to decisionmakers in preparing and approving plans, policies, and programs/activities/projects (PAPs) for implementation in the urban center and that will ultimately improve the City in terms of competitiveness, security and resiliency from disaster, and general urban conditions.

This report was prepared by the Study Team under the Joint Venture (JV) of Orient Integrated Development Consultants, Inc. (Lead Firm); Engineering and Development Corporation of the Philippines (EDCOP); Pacific Rim Innovation and Management Exponents, Inc. (PRIMEX), and CEST Incorporated (CEST). It contains the results of the detailed study on the Project as well as the cost estimation/construction planning, technical optimization of measures, cost-benefit analysis, and socio-economic and environmental assessments.

The Urban Coastal Zone Redevelopment Program aims to redevelop the urban coastal zone to: reduce risk of settlements to coastal hazards; improve water quality of Sarangani Bay; provide access to green spaces and waterways; increase LGU revenues (public market); and increase business investment in the area. Includes redevelopment of Queen Tuna Park, Public Market, urban bay area, and housing.
