Understanding the basic nature of urban travel behavior is a prerequisite to effective transportation planning and policy formulation. This study investigates the hypothesis that urban travel behavior can be grouped into a small number of representative patterns. A sample of 5945 individuals is extracted from the MMUTIS Household Information Survey (HIS) data and is used in this research. Cluster analysis technique is used to identify the typical travel patterns. The recommendations offered in this paper can help policymakers in their planning endeavor.
