A Content Analysis of Syllabi in General Education Courses of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Integrating Citizen-voters' Education

To attain a successful and democratic nation, voters must understand their rights and responsibilities, be sufficiently knowledgeable and well informed to cast legally valid ballots, and participate meaningfully in the voting process. These and many others are the reasons why the youth, especially the first-time voters who most often are in their first or second year of tertiary education, are to be taught voter education. Schools play a critical role in educating students not only about the content of the formal curriculum but also about life. One of the most fundamental roles of school in our society is to teach and socialize young people on how to be active members of our democratic society.
