Accelerating Technology Utilization and Commercialization of Mango and Bamboo for Sustainable Development in Region III

Two projects namely: the Integrated Research and Development Program (IRDP) and the Regional Research and Development Information Service (RRDIS) were implemented in line with the CLARRDEC flagship program to accelerate technology utilization and commercialization of mango and bamboo for sustainable development of agricultural areas in Region III. The projects aimed to institutionalize an IRDP thru networking with the consortium member agencies and by complementation of inputs with participating NGOs, POs and other institutions. It also aimed to institutionalize an efficient data management and systems by installing cost effective data processing capability at the consortium. After three years of implementation, several activities in line with the project objectives were instituted. For IRDP, the consortium efforts focused on the establishment/improvement of production areas, provision of technical assistance, conduct of trainings, and monitoring and dissemination activities. The RRDIS group concentrated on the development of information, education, and communication materials (IEC) to further boost the dissemination of the mango and bamboo technologies. Research breakthroughs were published as handouts and leaflets or aired over DWN (90 khs) during the ORAS ng BIDANI at CLARRDEC radio program. The One-Stop-Information Shop at CLARDECC Secretariat Office had been enhanced. Aside from the foregoing, lessons learned and problems encountered were noted and served as bases in further strengthening the consortium’s flagship program.
