Child Labor -- An Information Kit for Teachers, Educators and their Organizations

This information kit provides a model of the different things that can be done both in the classroom and in the community on how the information on child labour can be disseminated, or share ideas about how to raise community awareness. The kit describes child labour problems and solutions to them. It illustrates various techniques, media and modes which can be used to trigger action and stimulate new ideas. Much of the materials included can be elaborated and changed to suit the need and “flavour” of the specific local area. The kit is an example. It contains two basic kinds of material: information and examples of practical tools for use in the classroom and the community. Book 1: Child Labour, Children’s Rights and Education. This information tool provides facts and figures on child labour and underlines the importance of education in the elimination of child laboour. Book 2: Combating Child Labour – Action by Teachers, Educators and their Organizations. This is a collection of successful initiatives from 13 countries. It shows how various groups around the world have worked to solve child labour problems through educational programmes. The kit also contains examples of tools such as short stories, poems, games, songs, a drama play and stickers which carry the basic message of “Say ‘no’ to child labour.”
