PPJ Vol. VII No. 2 1976-02: Mangahan Floodway: A Flood Control Project for Metro Manila

The article discusses the flooding problem in Metro Manila, tracing its causes to local drainage and the overflowing of the Pasig River. It then presents the Mangahan Flood Control Project, which was designed to divert the excess flows of the Marikina River into Laguna de Bay, eliminating the swelling of the Pasig River and indirectly improving the effectiveness of the drainage network in the urbanized area. The paper discusses the economics, costs and financing of the flood control project.
