The Philippines has already reached more than two million Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases. As a result, our country's health system gets overwhelmed periodically, and our healthcare front-liners appear mostly exhausted. COVID-19 has indeed uncovered many challenges and risks for our health workers. The current global health crisis serves as an eye-opener to the lingering healthcare issues and challenges in many countries, which even long pre-existed the pandemic, and as an opportunity to reform the systems and structures that allow those issues and challenges to linger in the first place.
