Platform Work and COVID-19: A Descriptive Analysis on Nature and Work Conditions of Food and Service Delivery Workers

With the growth of the internet, one of the transformations in the world of work is the rise of platform business models. These platforms, like online marketplaces, have provided opportunities for the delivery of services and a wide range of productive activities, resulting in the creation of jobs. These platforms are like "digital matchmakers," where activities are facilitated and delivered between service providers and customers. Aside from the 2-sided markets (i.e., transportation platforms such as Grab, Uber; freelancing platforms such UpWork, Fiverr), there are 3-sided markets (i.e., delivery platforms such as FoodPanda, GrabFood) that facilitate the exchanges and interaction of three parties consisting of business partners (i.e., grocery or restaurants), the delivery worker and the customers.
