The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS), being true to its mandate of conducting policy research in aid of planning and policymaking, launches its newest regular publication--the Economic Policy Monitor (EPM). In this issue of the DRN, we highlight the EPM and the in-depth analyses it has raised in its maiden issue focusing on fiscal space, investment, and poverty alleviation, arguably some of the main areas that the government should face head-on for the Philippines to tread the right path to economic growth.
With the Aquino administration`s commitment to have a more inclusive growth approach to development, the EPM offers a timely tableau of what the development situation is, what have been done, what and where lessons can be learned, what gains may be made, and how the government`s commitment may somehow be made possible.
