Going Against the Grain: A Case Study of Jollibee Group Foundation's Farmer Entrepreneurship Program

This work discusses some of EMIT C4C’s important findings from its action research on the FEP. Using case study research, the project seeks to understand how the FEP value chains work. Moreover, it also aims to know how these value chains impact its primary producers, the smallholders. This work will answer two research questions: first is on the effects of Farmer Entrepreneurship Program (FEP) value chains on smallholder farmers, and the second is on how FEP value chains can inform the conceptualization of inclusiveness (and competitiveness) in agriculture value chains. While the former is largely descriptive and explanatory, the latter is exploratory and aims to contribute to building theory on what makes value chains inclusive.
