The paper assesses Japan’s progress in structural reforms under its “Abenomics” policy that would lessen the negative impacts of its aging population on its stagnant economy. As the policy package covered diverse areas of Japanese society such as women, education, and robotics, it has the capacity to build on opportunities in reevaluating its immigration and healthcare policies that can address its increasing social security burdens.
