The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) held a public webinar on November 30, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM via Zoom.
This event featured the presentation “What Factors Explain Development Projects' Performance?" by Asian Development Bank (ADB) Principal Evaluation Specialist Dr. Hyun H. Son.
The presentation draws on the first two chapters of the ADB’s 2023 Annual Evaluation Review: What Explains ADB’s Project Performance, 2016–2022. The report analyzed the factors affecting the success of ADB-funded public sector or sovereign projects. It found that project and country factors influence the variation of the projects’ performance. It revealed that policy advice and technical assistance can mitigate the risks arising from these factors.
