Agricultural Policy and Institutional Reforms in Myanmar: Experiences, Impacts, and Lessons

This edition focuses on the analysis of each country’s experiences, lessons, and insights on policy reforms and institutional innovations in the agriculture sector. It has been determined that the most important factor to move Myanmar agriculture forward are market-oriented policies to improve production and marketing. Aside from a shift to market-based, diversified, and modernized production approach, there is also a need to improve supply and value chains. This will ensure that all stakeholders especially the low-income farmers and workers along the value chain will realize increased income. It also presents recommendations on how the country can take advantage of the ASEAN integration by expanding agricultural trade not only in the region, but globally as well.
