“Southern Mindanao… Davao Region…The First 20 Years to the Global Beyond”.
The title is significant: while the document is a look-back into the whole post-EDSA achievements of the Region, the title adopts a forward-looking phraseology that counts the last twenty years as a mere initial step to the inevitable destiny of a globally competitive Davao Region.
It presents the transformations experienced by the region in the twenty-year span - the timeline which is shown morphing from 1986 to 2006.
Transformations – that took the region from a six-province, seven-city Southern Mindanao, to a four-province, five-city Davao Region. This is depicted by the fade-rise transition of the phrases SOUTHERN MINDANAO and DAVAO REGION at the top of the cover; and that of the maps from the old regional configuration to the new, found inside the sphere or globe.
Transformations - in the region’s socio-economic state as it moves toward becoming a globally competitive economy. The map of the new region portrays a modern economy influenced by globalization.
