TAPS PP 1999-08: A Study on Balance of Payments and Structure of External Trade Indicators

With the occurrence of the Asian crisis, there has been renewed interest on issues concerning the external balance, particularly those that relate to its sustainability. In this paper, the task is to develop additional indicators for the balance of payments and structure of external trade. Also, to assess the appropriateness and applicability of existing indicators, and, where possible, make recommendations on how to maximize the use of such.
