The countrys uplands will be overrun and irreparably damaged by farmers in search of agricultural lands if population pressure continues unabated. This is based on trends observed during the 1970s, when the population growth rate was appreciably higher than it is today and movements primarily of farmers into the countrys mountain areas were indeed heavy.
