This paper provides a situationer on term lending in the Philippine rural sector. The study reviews the current market for term lending in rural areas, and estimates the volume of and the extent to which term credit has spread out to rural areas. Using data from major term lending programs in the sector, it provides an analysis of the overall rural market for term lending, zeroing in on the agriculture subsector. The study also provides some indicative figures on the demand of medium and long term funds in rural areas.
