A Bank-Farmer Approach to Rural Credit: The Case of PAIDCOR

This paper documents the efforts undertaken by a rural bank and a number of small farmers in Pigcawayan, Cotabato in putting-up a mechanism by which the small farmer can have better access to the bank's financial resources. The bank, in turn, will be able to deal more confidently with this type of client. The mechanism is an outside organization jointly owned and managed by the bank and the farmer-borrowers. Through this mechanism, an integrated package of financial brokering services, inputs, procurement, processing and post-harvest facilities and marketing assistance, are provided to the participants.
