City Size and City Efficiency of Selected Philippine Cities


The study sought to find out if growth in an urban economy was influenced by growth of urban population and to determine the relationship between city size and number of secondary and tertiary establishments, average employment size per establishment and gross value added as indicators of efficiency. Results revealed that more populous urban areas are likely to have a larger market of goods and services, greater accumulation of savings, more diversified economic activities and greater specialization of goods and services.
