The paper examines the magnitude of the American influence in Philippine planning by reviewing the history of town and regional planning in the country. The manifestations of this influence could be gleaned from past and contemporary planning policies, laws, and approaches. Particularly it identifies areas in planning which bear clear imprints of American planning principles and the various channels through which these influences are filtered into the country.
