Traffic Problems in Manila: From a City Planner’s Point of View

Rationalizing that there are, in fact, traffic problems in Metropolitan Manila, the paper presents the probable causes of these problems based on the author’s expert observation of the metropolitan situation. After such identification, the succeeding sections present the most outstanding sectoral measures to alleviate the problems, which include traffic engineering, traffic management, lifestyle and habits, public transport, and comprehensive urban planning. These discussions detail the effects, the prerequisite conditions under which such effects may be expected, and how these are interrelated to one another.
