As the most wide-ranging intellectual property agreement has been forged internationally, the TRIPS Agreement should be widely disseminated to all concerned, especially since on 01 January 2000 the Philippines becomes liable to international trade and WTO sanctions if she fails to provide protection to foreign holders of intellectual property rights. Hence, IPR Management Societies should take lead in educating the public on the implications of IPR and in creating awareness of Filipino inventions with a view to improving Philippine competitiveness.
