The Architectural and Engineering services sector is a dynamic industry in the Philippines. Its development, especially in the past years, can be attributed to a similar trend of development in closely related industries such as the construction and real estate industry. There are a number of literature available on the construction and real estate industry. However, only a few are available that deals separately with the growth, development and potential of the Architecture and Engineering Services Industry.
Moreover, the Philippine Architectural and Engineering services industry has rarely been examined as a potential source of export revenues for the country, much less analyzed within the context of liberalization.
In light of these developments, this review of literature presents information meant to: (1) determine the scope of the architecture and engineering services industry; (2) present a profile of the establishments in both the international and local industry; (3) determine the demand for architecture and engineering services both locally and abroad; (4) identify the laws affecting the trade of architecture and engineering services; (5) identify the human resource development practices of establishments in the architecture and engineering services industry; (6) identify opportunities and threats faced by the architecture and engineering services industry; (7) identify the benefits and costs of liberalizing the architecture and engineering services industry; (8) determine the degree of competitiveness of the Philippine architecture and engineering services industry; and (9) identify the issues concerning the trade of architecture and engineering services.
