With the impending phase out of Air France-KLM direct flight to Manila from Europe, the Joint Foreign Chamber of Commerce renewed their call to repeal the Common Carriers Tax (CCT) and the Gross Philippine Billings Tax (GPBT) imposed upon international air carriers. They claim that the tax policy is discriminatory. At present, there are two (2) legislative proposals filed at the House of Representatives i.e. HB 4302 by Rep. Herminilando Mandanas and HB 4444 by Rep. Jerry Trenas. A version similar to HB 4302 was also filed at the Senate, i.e. SB 3065 by Sen. Ralph Recto.
