This paper presents M-CRIL’s assessment and rating of the Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation (NWTF), Philippines.
The assessment looks at NWTF’s governance, mission and strategy, targeting, products, information systems, client protection, human resources, non-financial services and linkages. It states that NWTF is on track in terms of putting its mission into practice while maintaining financial sustainability. It is an innovating organization with strong social commitment and social monitoring. The report gives the organization a rating of ?- It identifies NWTF’s strengths in areas such as:
* Leadership commitment to balancing financial and social goals, particularly poverty outreach and client responsive services;
* Strategic focus to work in poorer provinces of the Philippines and deepen outreach;
* Range of products designed to meet varying client needs and repayment capacities;
* Social Performance Management (SPM) committee established in 2008 with representation from all regions and organizational levels;
* Skilled research and development team.
Finally, the assessment states that NWTF’s concern to ensure that its services reach the poor has motivated the organization to adopt the Progress out of Poverty Index (PPI) for client targeting, integrating it within its existing systems.
