This paper analyzes the performance of the 17 administrative divisions (regions) of the country and their respective contribution to national economic growth for the period 2009-2011 using the latest available data from the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB). Economic growth in the country’s 17 regions is not evenly distributed with the NCR contributing about one third of the total growth in 2010 and 2011. The analysis shows that the economic performance of each region has an impact on its poverty situation. Given the objective of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2011-2016 to achieve inclusive growth, there is a need to give emphasis on regional development efforts as majority of the poor population is located in the rural areas. It may be worthwhile to review the economic roadmap (regional development plan) to ensure that the identified policies and programs are properly implemented.
