The Central Luzon Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLARRDEC) member agencies particularly the R & D centers generate technologies in crops, livestock, fisheries, postharvest and irrigation management which can be tried and adopted by target users. The CLARRDEC-Techno Gabay (TG) Program was introduced to the chief executive of the province and was accepted as a major program. The five-year program has a local name known as the Nueva Ecija Agricultural Modernization Program: The NEPG-CLARRDEC Partnership.
This program adopts the four components of the TG program, namely: Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS), FSB, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) and Information Communication Technology (ICT). To start the program, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist put up the Nueva Ecija Farmers and Fisherfolks Information Technology Services (NEFFITS) and was launched in October 2002. The City of Palayan launched the Palayan City FITS in April 2003.
The NEAMP financed initially the promotion of greenhouse technology in 16 municipalities involving 160 farmers and a total budget of Php11,115,227 for the greenhouses and 16 computers.
Four batches of trainings were conducted to enhance the knowledge of farmers. The trainings were funded by DA-3, CLSU, NEPG and CLARRDEC. The program hopes to contribute to the modernization of off-season vegetable production.
