Integration of Services at the Metropolitan Level

From the statements of Philip Hauser, one can say that the metropolitan area is not only the consequence of such developments (as mentioned by Hauser) but also is a determinant of further change. Urbanism has profoundly affected the social order, thereby, producing increased demand for changes in the political order. Thus, we will find that many of our contemporary problems in the metropolitan area are symptomatic of the continuing strains arising from our traditional political order. In the face of the radically changed requirements of metropolitan areas, the crucial question, therefore, is whether the political order is able to cope with the growth requirements and socio-cultural exigencies of urbanization. We shall seek the answer to this question by examining the problems of Metropolitan Manila. Then, in the latter portion of this paper, perhaps, we may be able to present some suggestions to improve the administration of services having metropolitan-wide implications.
