The competitiveness of the petrochemical industry is a key factor in the competitiveness of the downstream plastics industry, which includes plastic packaging products, a key input of the Philippine export sector. The study analyzes the state of competition within the petrochemical industry (as an input to the plastics-based packaging industry), using an analytical framework specially developed for this purpose, and to make recommendations, if necessary, on how to make the industry competitive or how to improve its competitiveness.
