Export Growth and Human Development


In the policy discourse and debate. It is often assumed that the export sector contributes to employment. Further, export growth contributes to overall economic growth, which in turn is a necessary condition to combat poverty and enhance human development. However, this paper argues, there is much more to the relationship between export growth and human development, other than the export sector’s contribution to employment and to economic growth.
