This maiden issue of the PIDS Policy Pulse presents interesting narratives from development policy discourses, highlighting the findings and recommendations of PIDS research and insights from sector experts. The various articles  featured in this issue tackle pressing concerns in the Philippines: labor migration and the readiness of Filipino professionals for ASEAN labor mobility; soft skills enhancement among Filipino workers for the digital age; farmer empowerment, agriculture modernization and the enactment of the proposed National Land Use Act; health sector woes and the high out-of-pocket costs of noncommunicable diseases; education sector challenges including learning losses due to the COVID-19 pandemic; and  service sector opportunities with universal broadband access and economic charter change.
