Associations between oral health-related impacts and rate of weight gain after extraction of pulpally involved teeth in underweight preschool Filipino children

Prevalence of oral health diseases and undernutrition are among the top diseases among school-age children. The explored how extraction of severely decayed teeth impacts on weight gain among underweight children. The study used the Scale of Oral Health Outcomes (SOHO-5) questionnaire to assess the subjective oral health indicators experienced by children. It was revealed that extraction of severely decayed tooth yielded a decrease on subjective oral health outcomes which was associated to weight gain.
