The rapid growth of the microfinance sector in Asia saw the increasing reliance by players on commercial financing to further support their lending activties.The report draws on 2007 data of 244 MFIs submitted for benchmarking analysis and data from a total 313 MFIs with published profiles on MIX market. The data covers 16 countries across South and East Asia and the Pacific, providing analysis on outreach and scale, debt structure and financial performance. Report concludes that, while increasing debt financing and equity investment propelled Asian MFIS' growth, the global financial crunch will have adverse effects on costs and availability of funding.
